Welcome!

What is this all about? And what the heck is "Tongilgo"?

Hi! Tongilgo (統一語, トㅗヒ ㅣㄹ コㅗ, tong il go, "unification language") is my vision for a constructed international auxiliary language (IAL) designed to unite East Asian peoples that speak languages derived from Classical Chinese in the spirit of Esperanto.  You can look at it almost as a "Chinese 2.0," (in this sense TG is more like Latino sine Flexione or Interlingua) with innovations heavily borrowed from Korean and Japanese.

This website is largely for active developers working on the project, but feel free to browse around and explore our work-in-progress. If you like what you see or want to join the team, please send me an email! The only requirement to join our development team is that you have a love of languages and a native background in one (preferably more) CJK language. If you don't know any Asian languages but are interested in helping out in some way, we still need you! We need non-Asian native speakers to test how international our language really is, along with a hundred other tasks that need to be done. Just ask!

Our design philosophy

We believe an IAL's first priority is to construct a framework that is as regular and easy to learn as possible to facilitate written and verbal communications between both friends and strangers, domestic and international. It should ideally also be efficient at disseminating information within a populace, again both domestically and internationally, for use in traditional media such as television, radio, and paper as well as new emerging media like the Internet, in both visual and auditory forms of delivery.

At the same time we recognize and celebrate the range of human creativity, and strongly support the use of languages in art and entertainment. This demands some flexibility in the language,

Who are you guys?

We're Starfox! We're just a bunch of bored Asian college students that use English as a working language but come from a range of mixed backgrounds. Check out our profiles here. We are largely based in the United States, but we're definitely looking for more diverse contributors from all over the world! Isn't the Internet great?
